Cisco Prime has a REST API…

It seems one of my favourite things these days…is finding new REST APIs for our operational data…and trying to implement magic stuff with it….and thinking up new ideas to integrate with my (all-too-sparse) bits of operational data.

Cisco Prime has a REST API — and you can download the programming guides here:

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/cloud-systems-management/prime-infrastructure/products-programming-reference-guides-list.html

I have been lamenting the fact that I don’t seem to be able to get logs or real-timish feeds of info from Microsoft DHCP server…as being able to track MAC addresses on our network would be…well, awesome.

But…I may try and simulate the same thing by querying Cisco Prime…by getting the list of active sessions every N minutes…and using this to do reverse lookup of an IP -> MAC address…plus…where the IP is connected…to which switch / AP,  the locations,  etc.

Surveillance is the business model of the Internet

I can see some…big-brotherish possibilities here…
